Bookmaking with the Masked Pixie - Part 2: The Bow Book

This is the second post in a series of instructions about making books. Check out Part 1 to make a Basic Book and come back later to see Part 3.
This book makes a nice gift because the bows make it look like a present!
Ready to make a book? Let's go! . . .

How to Make a Bow Book

Materials
  • paper (white or lined for your pages)
  • construction paper
  • tagboard or thin cardboard (old cereal boxes work well)
  • 3-hole puncher
  • glue
  • ribbon (yarn or shoe laces will also work)
  • art supplies to illustrate your pages and cover

Procedures
Make your pages
Write and draw your story on the white or lined paper. Do not write or draw anything too close to the left edge of the paper. Any words or pictures too close to the left edge will get covered up when you bind your book.
Put your pages in order
It is helpful to number your pages on the top or bottom corner. Stack your pages in order neatly.
Make your book cover
If you want a soft cover book, use 2 pieces of construction paper for your front and back covers.
If you want a hard cover book, cut 2 pieces of tagboard or cardboard for your covers. They should be a little bit bigger than your pages.
Put your pages between the front and back covers and punch 3 holes along the left edge of your book.
Bind your book
There are different ways to tie your book together.
If you want three bows, cut three 5-inch long pieces of ribbon.
Thread one ribbon through the top holes of your book and tie a bow. Do this again with the middle and bottom holes.
If you want two bows, cut two 15-inch long pieces of ribbon.
Thread one end of a ribbon up through the top holes of your book. Thread the other end of the same ribbon up through the middle holes of your book. Take both ends of the ribbon and tie a bow. Do this again with the middle and bottom holes.
Finish your book cover
Decorate your cover and write your book's title and your name on the front.
Share your book
Your book is complete! Now go read it to someone!
