The Secret Origin of the Masked Pixie

Once there was a sad little pixie who lived in the forest.  She longed to create magic, but because she was only 970 years old (a mere child in pixie years), she was too young to wield a magic wand like her older fairy friends.

One day an artist came to the forest to find inspiration in nature. The pixie watched the artist draw several wonderful pictures with her pencil. When the artist left the forest, she dropped the pencil in her haste. The pixie had never seen a pencil before and thought it was a new kind of wand.

There was no rule against her using this kind of wand, so the little pixie set to work making “magic” with the pencil. She practiced and practiced, and her drawings got better and better.

The pixie showed her creations to her forest friends. The animals found the drawings quite tasteful, but the pixie still wanted to find a more appreciative audience.

She decided to ask her mom for advice. Her mom, whom you may know better as Mother Nature, told her to seek out the humans because humans love art. So the pixie set off for the big city over the hill.

The first humans the pixie met were children. They were reading a big book with big words and no pictures. They seemed distressed because they did not understand the story.

The pixie swooped in to help the children out. She scribbled and sketched. When she was done the children looked at the magnificently descriptive illustration and were very pleased because now they understood the story.

And so the little pixie with the big pencil became known as the Masked Pixie.  Ever since that day she has been flying about and drawing pictures wherever she is needed.
