Jan Berenstain was born on July 26, 1923. Jan and her husband Stan created the Berenstain Bears family - Mama Bear, Papa Bear, Brother Bear, and Sister Bear. The first Bear family book, The Big Honey Hunt, was published in 1962. Jan is still working on new books with her son Michael.
