4. Fun fun fun in the sun sun sun!
Flamingos live in lakes in tropical areas. You can find flamingos in Brazil, India, the Caribbean, and other warm places. They live on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. These birds might look like they're sunburned, but that's not the reason they are pink. Why are they pink? Keep reading and you'll find out . . .

3. Flamingo food!
Flamingos eat shrimp, algae, and other things with carotenoids, a pigment that is also found in carrots, mangoes, and other fruits and veggies that are orange, red, or yellow.

2. One leg wonders!
Flamingos can stand on one leg for hours without falling over. They can even sleep while standing on one leg!

1. Friendly neighborhood flamingos!
It's very likely you live near a flamingo . . . a plastic one. The bright pink plastic lawn flamingo was created in 1957 by Don Featherstone. Some people think they look silly, but I think they're fantastic!
